Ready to take your wheel-throwing skills to the next level? Wheel 102 is designed for potters who already have a foundation in throwing and are looking to refine their techniques while exploring new forms and functions.
Over six weeks, you’ll build confidence and precision while learning advanced techniques, including:
Throwing a galley (the ledge a lid sits on)
Making lids that fit and hand-built lids for altered pots
Pulling and forming handles
Creating spouts that pour effectively
Throwing directly to the bat for altered pottery
Making slab-thrown plates
Weekly demonstrations will inspire your practice, and you’ll have the opportunity to work on your own projects with guidance and feedback from the instructor. Participants will be expected to cover/uncover their own clay and practice between classes.
Tuition Includes:
Clay
Use of studio tools and equipment
Bisque and glaze firings
Access to studio glazes
What to Bring:
An apron or towel
Clothes and shoes you don’t mind getting muddy
Your creative spirit!
Class Size: Limited to ensure personalized instruction.
Registration Required. Spaces fill quickly!
Please note that we do not have a parking lot. We have a few metered street parking spots in front of the studio. If you want to park in a space off the street that is reserved for Nicodemus Center customers, I recommend parking a block further down at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro. Our studio is on a one-way street. If you pass the studio (it will be on your left) continue roughly a block further up the street. The church is on your left.
