"Beginning Wheel Throwing for Adults (18 and up)" Tuesday evening, starting January 7, 2025, 6:00pm
This Beginning Wheel Throwing class is scheduled to take place over 7 weeks in January and February 2025. The class will be held on Tuesdays, 6:00pm-8:45pm, and is taught by Anne Aden. The location for the class is our studio located at 13 South Church St, Waynesboro PA.
OVERVIEW OF GENERAL COURSE CONTENT
The purchase of this course comes with one 3-hour long open studio session for additional practice time at the wheel!
The $250 class fee includes up to 25 pounds of stoneware clay, as well as glazing and firing of the pieces you create.
January 7, Class 1, 6:00pm-8:30pm (bring your favorite purchased or handmade piece of pottery)
Meet and greet, review 7-week course, share favorite pottery and why, discuss ceramics process from clay to pottery, wedging demo and hands on practice, throwing cylinder demo and hands on practice.

Practice and guidance, as needed
January 14, Class 2, 6:00pm-8:45pm
Clay preparation, centering, opening, pulling, finishing a cylinder
January 21, Class 3, 6:00pm-8:45pm
Trimming cylinders and surface decoration (carving)
January 28, Class 4, 6:00pm-8:45pm
Throwing bowls with a continuous curve bottom
February 4, Class 5, 6:00pm-8:45pm
Trimming bowls and surface decoration (carving)
February 11, Class 6, 6:00pm-9:00pm
Glazing all pieces created during previous weeks
February 18, Big Reveal! Class 7, 6:00pm-7:30pm
Share and celebrate glaze results and pottery progress, Q&A, and what’s next.
***Please note that we do not have a parking lot. We have a few metered street parking spots in front of the studio. If you want to park in a space off the street that is reserved for Nicodemus Center customers, I recommend parking a block further down at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waynesboro. Our studio is on a one-way street. If you pass the studio (it will be on your left) continue roughly a block further up the street. The church is on your left.
